One Nature
What We Do
Seven strategic focus areas designed to protect Tanzania's natural heritage while empowering the communities that depend on it.
Safeguarding critical ecosystems, restoring degraded habitats, and protecting endangered species through community-led monitoring and scientifically backed conservation frameworks. Our approach integrates both modern science and indigenous ecological knowledge to design interventions that are contextually relevant and lasting.
Core ProgrammeBuilding grassroots climate resilience through nature-based solutions (NbS) and restoring indigenous landscapes to mitigate the impacts of climate variability on rural livelihoods. We work with communities to develop adaptive strategies that reduce vulnerability while restoring ecosystem services.
Core ProgrammeFostering peaceful coexistence by deploying sustainable conflict mitigation tools, reducing community-wildlife conflicts, and ensuring local communities directly benefit from conservation economies. We design community wildlife management models that create tangible economic incentives for conservation.
Core ProgrammePlacing local communities—specifically women and youth—at the center of conservation by building capacity, creating green jobs, and fostering long-term environmental stewardship. One Nature believes that the most resilient conservation outcomes arise when marginalized groups are empowered decision-makers.
Core ProgrammeAmplifying local voices in national and global environmental policy dialogues, ensuring inclusive decision-making that integrates indigenous knowledge with modern conservation laws. We engage government, international bodies, and civil society to advocate for policies that protect both nature and community rights.
Core ProgrammeLeveraging modern technology, smart surveillance, GIS mapping, and community-reported data to monitor biodiversity threats and track environmental changes in real-time. This pillar positions One Nature at the frontier of conservation innovation in East Africa.
New PillarPromoting eco-friendly farming practices, agroforestry, and sustainable natural resource management to reduce community economic pressure on protected wildlife areas. By creating viable green livelihoods, we reduce the drivers of habitat encroachment and poaching.
